The plant
The building where the headquarters and the plant are located was one of the first industrial
settlements in Northern Italy: the breeding of silk worms in this site dates back to the second half of
the Nineteenth Century.
LAMPLAST bought the building (some 16.000 m2) and the surrounding area
(about 60.000 m2) in 1977, moving there its PVC compounding activity, which had started
few years before at Renate, a small town not far away from Giussano.
In 1997 a complete renewal of the plant began, involving both the building and the machinery.
- The previous structure has been removed and substituted by a prefabricated one;
120 minutes fire resistant walls have been built according to the safety measures provided by the fire
department; state-of-the-art heating and lighting systems have been installed, making possibile a significant
reduction of energy costs.
- The widening and the modernizing of the manufacturing capacity is still in
progress - taking advantage of the new internal engineering and machine tooling divisions.
All the existing lines have been refurbished on the basis of the process know-how acquired in more than 25
years of activity, allowing some of them to reach a productivity near to 5000 kg/h.
Further investments are planned until 2002 in order to achieve a capacity
of about 60.000 tons/year.
