Overview

Founded in the late 70s, LAMPLAST is now among the European leading thermoplastic and rubber compounders, with a volume exceeding 30.000 ton and a turnover of about 21 millions Euro (2000). According to a market research performed by AMI Consulting in 1999, LAMPLAST is the biggest independent (not integrated) supplier of PP based compounds to the European automotive industry, with a market share of about 3%.

Products

LAMPLAST products portfolio comprises the following families:

Syntegum
PP based compounds, filled with talc, calcium carbonate, mica, wollastonite, reinforced with glass fiber, modified with elastomers for automotive, household and textile applications. All products are also available as self-extinguishing compounds (V0 or V2 class), with halogens (KX, HJ) or halogen-free (ZY).
Revil
compounds based on EPDM rubber, butyl and PE for cable & wire applications. All products are also available as halogen free self-extinguishing compounds.
Lamide
PA based compounds, filled with different minerals, reinforced with glass fiber, modified with elastomers for automotive, household and textile applications. All products are also available as self-extinguishing compounds (V0 or V2 class), with halogens (KX, HJ) or halogen-free (ZY).
Teplagum
Nitrile based compounds for shoe applications.

The plant

The plant and the headquarters are located in Giussano - a 20.000 inhabitants town near Milan - and cover an area of approximately 60.000 m2. Being located in a protected area (the Lambro river natural park), the facility fulfils the most restricting laws in terms of environmental protection. LAMPLAST plans to gain the ISO 14001 environmental certification within the next two years.

The actual capacity, about 40.000 ton/year, will raise to 60.000 ton/year, thanks to the machinery investments planned for years 2001 and 2002.

Quality assurance and Research & Development

Since the early 90s, LAMPLAST has empowered its laboratory structure, in order to:

These efforts have led LAMPLAST to gain the ISO 9002 quality certification in 1997 and to widen its products portfolio significantly (in year 2000 the contribution of new products - i.e. developed in the previous 2 year - to the whole production volume was more than 20%).
